Juan David Hernandez Velasco, age 32, of Stamford, was attacked around 3:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 25 on Crystal Street.

Capt. Tom Scanlon of the Stamford Police said Velasco was stabbed multiple times and then driven to Stamford Hospital by partygoers where he underwent emergency surgery. He later died.

While police were investigating the homicide, they spotted 22-year-old Beimar Araujo-Ramirez walking “recklessly” downtown along Broad Street, Scanlon said.

Araujo-Ramirez told detectives he and the victim were both at the party when a fight broke out, and that he and others had dropped the man off in front of the hospital’s entrance.

“The circumstances surrounding this fight and the injuries that led to the death of the victim remain under investigation,” Scanlon said.

Araujo-Ramirez was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct for his alleged actions toward the two party hosts, he added.

No one has been charged in connection with the stabbing death.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Stamford Police Department at 203-977-4417.
